New Jersey Devils veteran goaltender Martin Brodeur set an NHL playoff shutout record with his 24th shutout in the team's victory over the Florida Panthers on Thursday night.

Brodeur had 26 saves to break a tie with Patrick Roy for the shutout mark.

"He was on top of his game," Devils teammate Zach Parise said. "You could tell. He was seeing the puck really well. He made the big saves early."

The 39-year old bounced back from a bad Game 3 performance, leading the team to tie the series at two games a piece. 

"It's a big win for us," Brodeur said. "Down 3-1 is a big hole to get out of. Being tied is a relief. Hopefully we'll take the momentum of how we dominated in certain areas of the game and put it in their building."

New Jersey was able to score on goals from Parise, Steve Bernier, Travis Zajac, and Ilya Kovalchuck.

However, the real challenge for Florida was Brodeur, who made great saves throughout the night.

Brodeur hopes to continue his great play for the Devils to lead his team to another Stanley Cup.  Brodeur has led the team to three Stanley Cups championships in his 19 year career with the team.
