Since Tim Lincecum made adjustments to his pitching style, his last couple of outings have been impressive. In his last three starts, Lincecum has compiled a 1.23 ERA while recording 23 strikeouts in 22 innings. He is looking to keep the momentum going against the Washington Nationals. He has not had that much success against the NL East team. Lincecum has gone 0-4 with a 9.00 ERA in his last five starts against the team since 2008. 

The Giants as a team have struggled agains the Nationals. They have dropped six games in a row to the team, including this series opener losing 4-2 on Tuesday. The Giants left 12 runners stranded on base while going 1 for 9 with runners in scoring position. The Giants are simply not getting hits. Buster Posey is hitting .164 with just two RBI in 18 games. 

Washington is looking to match a season-high win streak with five-straight victories. Currently the team is hitting .341 with runners in scoring position. The Nationals are 8 1/2 games back from Cincinnati who is leading the wild card race. They need to step it up to get into the postseason.

Zimmermann is 13-6 on the season with a 3.10 ERA. He is looking to have a bounce back game after going 1-2 in his last four starts with a 6.75 ERA. He is even worse at home with a 9.95 ERA. In his last start, Zimmermann gave up seven hits and two runs on just 88 pitches while recording a loss to the Atlanta Braves.
