Real Madrid Beat Barcelona 2-1, Cristiano Ronaldo Scored Winning Goal

Real Madrid beat Barcelona 2-1 on Sunday as Cristiano Ronaldo netting the winning goal in the Spanish La Liga.

The victory at Barcelona's home Nou Camp stadium helped Real to move ahead of Barcelona by seven points, getting one step closer to the championship in La Liga this year. The game also ended seven-game winless match against Barcelona.

Sami Khedira of Real scored the first goal in the 17th minute, breaking the club's 1989-90 record of 107 league goals in one season. Real was able to defend against Barcelona's attacks for the rest of the first half.

Barcelona had their hopes up as Alexis Sanchez scored an equalizer in the 72nd minute, but the hope did not last long.

Cristiano Ronald, who took the spotlight of today's show, scored the winning goal only two minutes later after receiving a pass from Mesuit Ozil. The game ended with a final score of 2-1.

Ronaldo is now also the league's winning goal-scorer with 42 goals, moving one goal ahead of Lionel Messi.

Messi, who is usually compared against Ronaldo as world's best soccer player, was silent Sunday.

Barcelona, the La Liga champion of last season, now must overcome the gap of seven points in the next four games to defend its title. In addition, Barcelona is under pressure against upcoming second-leg of semi-final at the Champions League, losing to Chelsea 1-0 in the first-leg.

Prior to the Sunday's game, Barcelona has not lost to Real for seven consecutive games. Sunday's loss also marked the first loss in the past 55 home games for Barcelona.
