Liverpool Transfer News: Brendan Rodgers Draws Line on Luis Suarez Transfer Saga

Liverpool manager drew a line on the Luis Suarez transfer saga by refusing to speak about the wantaway striker until he becomes available for the new English Premier League season.

Suarez is serving a ten-match ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic, of which six still remains, meaning he will be out of action until the end of September.

The Uruguay international has expressed his desire to leave Liverpool this summer and is wanted by Arsenal with the North London side seeing two bids rejected by the Reds.

Speaking to reporters at Liverpool's training base in Melwood, Rodgers said he would not take any further questions about Suarez or his future, instead choosing to concentrate on the players that are available for the season opener this weekend.

"For me Luis Suarez is very simple," Rodgers said. "I will start off by saying there has been so much written and said about Luis over the last few months.

"From our perspective there is a standpoint from the club and myself that has not changed.

"What I want to concentrate on is the players that are available for this weekend so I won't be speaking any more about Luis Suarez until he is available.

"I don't really want to answer any more questions on Luis Suarez.

"There is nothing to be said that hasn't already been said. I am sure people are fed up of listening about it and reading about it.

"My only concentration is the players who are available and, from the first day they came back, they've had a real hard pre-season.

"Purely out of respect to them and the work which has been going on, I only want to talk about them."

Liverpool remain adamant on the fact that Suarez is not for sale at any cost and the player is expected to tender an apology for his behaviour and some of the comments made earlier this summer before being reintegrated to the squad for the upcoming season.
