Philadelphia Eagles Rumors: Nick Foles Strong in Chip Kelly Offense, Michael Vick Impressed as Quarterback Competition Pushed to Third Week in Training Camp

Nick Foles got the start in Week 2 of the preseason over veteran Michael Vick for the Philadelphia Eagles. The two quarterbacks are in a race to be named the season's starting quarterback and head coach Chip Kelly intends on letting this competition go on until the very in. The question surrounding Foles is whether or not he is mobile enough to handle Kelly's high-powered offense. In his first start, he looked every bit capable of running the team.

The second preseason game was not perfect for Foles, but he appeared to do enough to keep the competition tight for another week. Foles led an almost perfect opening drive, going 6-of-6 in passing before throwing a pick in the back of the end zone.

He proved he can run a no huddle offense, which the Eagles ran at the start to keep the Carolina Panthers on their heels. Foles also looked more mobile than normal, rushing for a 7-yard touchdown on his second drive. In total, Foles went 6-for-8 for 53 yards with the interception being his only mistake. The quarterback was attempting to throw the ball away.

"We're not going to make any rash decisions," Kelly said via USA Today Sports. "You can put your pens down now if you think we're naming a starting quarterback in this room right now."

He likely cannot decide because while Foles looked strong, so did Vick. The veteran stepped in during the second quarterback and went 9-for-10 for 105 yards. However, he too had a pass intercepted after throwing a Hail Mary to end the half.

Kelly is not looking to name a starting quarterback until likely the final preseason game. Kelly is confident that the team has two quarterback who could start for any team in the league so he is liking the situation. The Eagles continue to rotate Foles and Vick in training camp.

"I have to continue to work hard," Vick said. "I think that's what put me in position to succeed and excel on the football field ... Just the way we prepare has me in position where I feel like I can do it all. I don't want to get too overconfident. I want to remain humble and continue to have the same work ethic."

Foles has the ability to push this competition to the end. Even if Vick is the presumed starter, Foles is no slouch and is not playing to be a backup.
