Manchester United Transfer Rumors: Chelsea Boss Jose Mourinho To Make Final Bid Of £40million For Wayne Rooney Within The Next 48 Hours

It seems that the Wayne Rooney transfer saga still has some life in it as Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho plans to make a final bid of £40million for Rooney within the next 48 hours.

According to Alan Nixon of the Sunday People, Mourinho wants Rooney as his new No.9 and owner club owner Roman Abramovich will back him up with a four-year contract worth £300000 a week. The Chelsea boss his hoping that the sheer size of the bid is enough to make the Old Trafford giants see how much sense it makes financially to do the deal.

However, Manchester United manager David Moyes maintains his stance that the English striker is not for sale, thus dropping his value after the transfer window closes as he has just two years left on his current United contract.

It was previously reported that Moyes has given Rooney an ultimatum to either submit an official request to be sold or for him to commit to the cause. He's made it clear Rooney will not play for the club again unless he either submits a formal transfer request or commits himself totally to the cause. Moyes is now beginning to get tough on Rooney as the transfer saga continues to drag on, after admitting he has been under fire ever since arriving to United last month as the legendary manager Alex Ferguson's successor.

Although Mourinho wants Rooney as the newest member of his club, he will continue to look elsewhere.

Chelsea have also been given encouragement to bid for Liverpool's Luis Suarez by his camp.

The Uruguayan is a long-shot option but could yet move up the wish list.
