Reddit AMA stands for "Ask Me Anything." The popular website often likes to bring on celebrities or sports stars to take part in fan question and answer sessions where people are allowed to ask anything they desire. Reddit users are known for asking some crazy questions that can teach the public a lot. Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson took part in the latest AMA, clueing in fans on what makes him tick.
Peterson is easily the best running back in the league. Last season he came within nine yards of breaking the single-season rushing record, a goal he has set for this upcoming season. Peterson said coming so close was bittersweet because in the end, his team made it to the playoffs.
"it was a little confusing. 9 yards! i dunno it was bittersweet at the time because we had just won as a team, we were in the playoffs, knocked chicago out, but to be 9 yards short. i knew i didnt break it cuz they would have announced it. to get so close. thats the bitter part," Peterson wrote.
This offseason the Vikings opted to trade away wide receiver Percy Harvin to the Seattle Seahawks. The trade worked out considering Harvin has now undergone surgery and will miss a portion, if not all, of the 2013-14 season. Peterson told Reddit that Harvin was one of his best friends in the league, but now he never answers his phone. The running back said Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson and Sidney Rice are some of his closes friends.
Peterson was asked about some of the new rookies in the league and who he thought was the best new running back in the league. Peterson credited Eddie Lacy as being the best, but is concerned considering he was picked up by a pass-first team. So far Peterson's assumption on Lacy's talent is correct as the rookie is well on his way to earning a starting spot.
Peterson was asked what team he really wanted to be draft to back in 2007. The running back replied the Texans. Peterson is originally from Texas and played his college football at Oklahoma. The Vikings opted to draft him No. 7 overall.
Peterson offered a few other points about his daily life. The running back prefers to play PlayStation over Xbox and credits Call of Duty as his main hobby outside of football. His all-time favorite NFL player is Barry Sanders and he currently is driving around in a BMW 760. Peterson also recalled a great team moment when defensive star Jared Allen showed up to a meeting wearing nothing but a cowboy hat and a speedo.
