NY Knicks Rumors: Beno Udrih To Miss EuroBasket Tournament As PG Key For Carmelo NBA Championship Run?

The New York Knicks have made a number of moves this offseason to try and build as they made a championship run and one of those signings was of point guard Beno Udrih, who will miss EuroBasket this summer to make sure he is healthy for the upcoming season.

According to Pro Basketball Talk, Udrih will sit out of the tournament over the summer after dealing with injuries over the past two years. The Knicks want Udrih to be a solid backup for Ray Felton and Pablo Prigioni and he could give the team some depth that they were missing last season and now the Slovenian team will move forward without him and with Goran Dragic as the likely starter when things start on September 7.

Udrih is expected to give the team some minutes and he averaged 10.2 points and 6.1 assists in 27 minutes with Orlando last season. Udrih has played for a number of teams since entering the NBA with the Spurs and after making $32.5 million during the past five seasons, the Knicks feel that he can help them win a title. The team has dealt with injuries numerous times at the point guard position and Udrih can give them some support on the bench.

Udrih is solid from three after shooting 39.6 percent from beyond the arc last season and he could be a very good backup option after spending time with the Kings, Bucks and Magic. The Knicks were also reportedly looking at Delonte West, but that is unlikely now.
