MLB Standings: Cardinals in 1st Place, Tigers' Leads Shrink, Red Sox Still On Top

The MLB standings has a new leader in the N.L. Central. After a St. Louis Cardinal come-from-behind win on Monday evening, the Pittsburgh Pirates are now in second place. Taking advantage of a first place team were the Cleveland Indians, who saw the Detroit Tigers' lead shrink in the A.L. Central. Here are the full standings entering Tuesday evening.

N.L. Central: St. Louis Cardinals (77-54), Pittsburgh Pirates .5 GB, Cincinnati Reds 3.5 GB
Allen Craig doesn't always hit grand slams, but when he does, he makes sure it places the Cardinals in first place. St. Louis was down early to the Reds in their first of three meetings this week. The Reds scored four runs in the top of the second, but by the bottom of the seventh, the Cardinals had crossed the play five times, taking an 8-5 lead and they never looked back. The Pirates have made a move that should make them stiff competitors in the N.L. Central.

A.L. East: Boston Red Sox (77-55), Tampa Bay Rays 1.5 GB
The Kansas City Royals did the Red Sox a huge favor as they crushed the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday night, 11-1. With the loss, the Rays fail to take advantage of the Red Sox's day off. The Red Sox will have a chance to increase their lead on the Baltimore Orioles, who are 5.5 games behind in the A.L. East standings. The Rays should not have a hard time beating the woeful Los Angeles Angels.

A. L. Central: Detroit Tigers (77-54), Cleveland Indians 5.5 GB
Not active, no problem. The Indians enjoyed their day off as the Oakland Athletics handed the Tigers a loss, cutting the division lead to just 5.5 games. The Indians will have a tough opponent up next as they face baseball's best, the Atlanta Braves. They will look to remain hot as they are the second hottest team in the division behind the Chicago White Sox.

In the N.L. East, the Braves are still up by 13 games.
In the A.L. West, the Texas Rangers are sitting with a 2.5 games.
In the N.L. West, the Los Angeles Dodgers are leading by 9.5 games.
