The New York Giants and New England Patriots hook up for another preseason matchup. The Giants and Patriots are rivalry now, though they are in opposite conferences. Their regular season games are to die for and they have provided classic Super Bowls. Check out live scoring updates of the Giants vs. Patriots as they meet in the final week of the NFL preseason on Thursday night.
The Giants and Patriots are on different missions on this final day of the preseason. While the Giants are working on their defensive line and testing how real their running game is, the Patriots are looking to supply Tom Brady with adequate wide receivers.
Yes, there's Danny Amendola, but the rest of their receivers are unknown. Rookie Kenbrell Thompkins has been pretty reliable this preseason, going for 142 yards in 13 catches. Aaron Dobson is second with eight catches and 115 yards. However, the Patriots don't know how they will react once the regular season comes around. Both Thompkins and Dobson are rookies entering the 2013 season. Thompkins came out of Cincinnati, while Dobson was drafted out of Marshall. They are both young and if they can play the way they have done so far in the preseason, Brady should have reliable targets throughout the regular season. Also, helping Dobson and Thompkins is that they will never be the No. 1 option, they just have to provide Brady with options as Amendola will likely be his favorite option.
The Giants running game continues to impress. For the first time since the days of Tiki Barber, Eli Manning and the Giants' receiving core look to be the average part of the team's offense. David Wilson and Andre Brown have combined for over 200 yards rushing, with Wilson scoring the only rushing TD between the duo. The Giants would be extremely dangerous if their running game is serious in 2013 as Manning has one of the game's highest IQ's at the QB position.
