NY Knicks Rumors: JR Smith Says New York Will Win NBA Championship In 2013-14

The New York Knicks are heading into the 2013-14 season with high expectations and now they might be a bit higher after JR Smith said that he feels the team will win a championship this year.

According to the NY Post, Smith was responding to some tweets about the team and said that the Knicks would end their "title drought" and he said he was "100 percent" sure that it would happen. He also added that he came to the Knicks after coming back from China over the Nets because New York was better and now the Knicks and Nets are the two big rivals in the city.

The sixth man feels that the Knicks have the pieces to win a championship and that includes signing Metta World Peace, Kenyon Martin, Smith himself, Pablo Prigioni as well as the trade for Andrea Bargnani. The Knicks haven't won since back in the 1970s and have Carmelo Anthony now after some very bad years, but time could be running out for the Knicks with Melo set to be a free agent.

The team won over 50 games and the division last season, but the East is expected to be more competitive this year.
