MLB September Call-Ups 2013: Reds Promote Billy Hamilton As Jameson Taillon, Archie Bradley, Chris Owings and Noah Syndergaard Coming?

The Major League Baseball schedule is now into September and that means late season call-ups for many teams around the league with expanded rosters and a couple of players that have already made it to the big leagues include Mariners pitcher Taijuan Walker and Reds outfielder Billy Hamilton.

According to ESPN.com, Hamilton was called up to the Reds amid a race for the playoffs in the National League Central, where they sit behind the Cardinals and the Pirates in the second wild card spot. The team called up Hamilton along with Neftali Soto from their Triple-A team and they are currently playing against St. Louis for a four-game set that could help close the gap and they started with a 7-2 win on Monday.

Hamilton is one of the fastest players in baseball and he set a record with 175 stolen bases playing in two different levels and he also played in Triple-A this season and stole over 70 bases, according to ESPN.com. Hamilton will give the Reds some speed on the bags and the team now is just 3.5 games behind the Pirates in the division.

SI.com says that a number of prospects could get the call-up and any pitcher is hoping that their debut could go like Walker's, as he won after pitching five innings, giving up two hits and striking out a couple batters. He looked sharp against the lowly Astros and some options around the league include Chris Owings from Arizona, George Springer on the Astros, Jameson Taillon for the Pirates as well as Noah Syndergaard for the Mets.
