The Los Angeles Clippers are heading into the 2013-14 season with championship expectations after acquiring Doc Rivers and bringing back Chris Paul and with names like Blake Griffin, JJ Redick and DeAndre Jordan on the roster, the team feels it is ready for a finals run.
As the season gets closer and training camp approaches, the team is looking to add more to the bench and the Clippers announced the signing of Brandon Davies on Friday to help give more depth to the lineup. According to Pro Basketball Talk, the Clippers signed Davies to a deal after playing for the summer league team and while the contract is partially guaranteed, he could have a real shot at making the team.
The Clippers have 13 guaranteed contracts for players on the roster this season and now Davies adds depth after playing in five games and averaging 5.8 points and 4.0 rebounds in 15.8 minutes in the summer league. While playing for BYU Davies was very productive and the Clippers liked what they saw on tape from him in college when he averaged 17.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, 2.4 assists and a blocked shot while playing in 35 games.
"We really liked Brandon in Summer League," Clippers Head Coach and Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations Doc Rivers said, via the team's official release. "We like his ability to play multiple positions and he fits with our team. He understands team basketball and has been in here all summer working on his game."
