Both teams are expeced to make the playoffs as they possess some of the league's top talents. Currently, it's the 49ers who have the edge entering the 2013 season. San Francisco plays in a tough division, but they have one of the top defenses and their offense features one of the best young talents behind center. With Colin Kaepernick, Frank Gore and guys like Vernon Davis, Anquan Bolding and Mario Manningham on the receiving end, the 49ers are primed for another great season.
The 49ers' defense also features one of the top defenders in the game with Patrick Willis manning the Niner offense. If the Packers' offensive line can't sleep as Willis is only the tip of the iceberg when dealing with the 49ers' defense. Justin and Aldon Smith are both problems for any offense. Add NaVarro Bowman to the mix and teams have to wonder how they will score.
The Packers have a solid weapon in Aaron Rodgers, but they will have to find a consistent target for their superstar quarterback. Entering the season, the Packers will have Jordy Nelson, Jermichael Finley and James Jones as their most experienced receivers on offense. Jones has seven seasons in the NFL, so his guidance will be crucial as the Packers will attempt to be a vicious offense.
These two teams last met in the 2012 playoffs where the 49ers punished the Packers 45-31. Can the 49ers offense have another explosive performance or will the Packers step up and start their 2013 season on the right step?
