Manchester City Transfer News: Mangala Flattered by City Interest, But Happy at Porto; Silva Injured on Spain Duty

Manchester city target Eliaquim Mangala said he is flattered by interest from the English Premier League club, but insisted he is quite happy to progress at FC Porto.

Reports in the weekend suggested City were planning a mega bid for Mangala in the January transfer window, after the defender himself admitted the 2012 Premier League champs had failed in a late bid in the recently-concluded transfer window.

Mangala, though, said he is quite happy to continue his career in Portugal.

"I am delighted to continue and progress with Porto," he told Sky Sports.

"I like the club and I never asked to leave and they were not willing to sell me in the first place.

"People talk about my valuation as high but it is not me who prices me. But it does not affect me, my job is to come and perform at my best on the green surface.

"Man City is nowadays one of the big clubs in the world so you are always flattered by their interest in you."

City are going through a bit of a defensive crisis with Vincent Kompany and new signing Martin Demichelis ruled out through injuries.

Meanwhile, City manager Manuel Pellegrini has another headache on his hands with David Silva withdrawing from the Spain squad after picking up an injury during training.

Silva injured his thigh while on international duty with Spain and has returned to Manchester for further treatment.

"After the issues reported by the player David Jimenez Silva after this afternoon's training session, a scan took place and a light muscle injury was detected," the Spanish FA said in a statement.

"For precaution, and to avoid complications with this injury, Silva left the training camp.

"National coach Vicente Del Bosque has decided not to call up anyone else to cover the absence."

Silva will now be a doubt for the Premier League game against Stoke on Saturday.
