New York Giants Rumors: Franchise To Workout Bradon Jacobs, Willis McGahee And Joe McKnight To Correct Struggling Running Game

After Sunday night's season opener, it was apparent that the New York Giants needed to work on their struggling running game in the team's 36-31 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. David Wilson fumbled the ball twice before he was benched and Da'Rel Scott couldn't hang on to an Eli Manning pass that was intercepted and returned for a touchdown.

Overall it was a horrific night for the Giants running game as the pair only combined for 42 yards on 12 carries. In order to fix the issue the team plans to work out on Tuesday free agent running backs like former Giant Brandon Jacobs, former Denver Broncos back Willis McGahee and former New York Jets back Joe McKnight, according to reports from CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora.

However, between the two Giants backs who are currently on the roster, Wilson by far was the biggest disappointment of the night to the franchise and its fans.

Wilson was projected to have a breakout season this year after the team didn't re-sign Ahmad Bradshaw. Instead Wilson responded poorly in Sunday's game, but as far as his starting job is concerned coach Tom Coughlin wouldn't indulge in the conversation on whether he'd lost it.

"I'm not going to answer that question now" Coughlin said after the game. "Give us a little time to work on this thing. He's still very much in our thoughts. He's got to play. He's a very talented young man ... They are not going to play unless they hang onto the ball. It's demoralizing to the whole team."
