NFL Rumors: Brian Urlacher Slams Chicago Bears, Jay Cutler After Linebacker Forced to Retire, Rips Team Twitter Account Announcing Departure (VIDEO)

Brian Urlacher now has a platform to voice his opinions and he intends on using it. The former Chicago Bears linebacker did not plan on retiring this season, but things did not work in his favor causing him to end his time in the NFL early. Urlacher was not quiet about wanting to play another season, but the free agent market was not kind to him or veterans of his age. Now, Urlacher is lashing out to his former team.

In an interview with Yahoo! Sports, the new NFL analyst Notes that he was not thrilled about the Bears "take it or leave it" offer he received in the offseason. Urlacher wanted a multi-year deal from the Bears and after having spent his entire career with the team, he felt he deserved at least a two-year contract rather than the veteran's minimum. That was all the Bears were willing to offer and Urlacher declined and retired.

Almost immediately after turning down the offer, the Bears hit Twitter to announce his departure. After spending 12 years with the team, all Urlacher was worth was a small tweet.

"I was so mad at the way it was handled, and I thought it was just wrong, the way it all went down," Urlacher said. "The Bears had a tweet out - I'm not playing - 30 seconds after my agent hung up the phone with him. They had a statement already written saying, 'He's not going to be back this year.'"

There is a lot of bitterness in that voice. Urlacher was upset at how the team had mislead him in the end. The linebacker said he would have understood if the Bears had admitted they only had a certain amount of money to offer him, but if he wanted to play then they would gladly sign him. Urlacher said that instead the team knew all along they did not want him back, making for a bitter divorce between the two.

To make matters worse, Urlacher revealed that he has not spoken with quarterback Jay Cutler since retiring back in May. The quarterback is apparently the only player that has yet to contact the linebacker despite Urlacher being supportive of Cutler throughout his career.

"Well, I did not hear from Jay, out of all the guys I played with, but that's just -- maybe we weren't as close as, like you said, as we could have been," Urlacher said. "That's just the way to let you know where you stand with people. But it's not his job to text me, maybe that's not his thing. That's fine. That's the way it is. I felt like I stood up for him more than anyone else did over the last three or four years in the media. I feel bad for the guy; he takes a lot of grief from the media, too."

Cutler only responded by saying, "I guess I'll reach out to him."
