San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick became an overnight star and poster boy for the read-option last season, as he's proved time and time again that a dynamic, dual-threat quarterback could indeed take a team to the Super Bowl.
During the 2012 season, Kaepernick was a menace to opposing defenses both on the ground and through the air, passing 798 yards, rushing for 264 more and scoring seven total touchdowns.
He was phenomenal in last week's season opener against the Green Bay Packers, completing 27 of 39 passes for a career-high 412 yards with three touchdowns to lead the 49ers to a 34-28 victory.
However, the Seahawks appear fully capable to defend the read-option, as the team practices against their own dynamic dual-threat quarterback in second-year pro Russell Wilson.
Wilson was a bit shaky in his season opener against the Carolina Panthers but still led the Seahawks to a 12-7 win last Sunday. He was 1-for-5 passing before completing 24 of his next 28 to finish with a career-best 320 yards.
The Seahawks have developed a reputation as one of the league's most dominant defensive teams (ranked fourth in 2012, allowing 306.2 yards per game), and it will be interesting to see how Kaepernick is able to the different reads he'll see Sunday night.
