San Francisco 49ers Shouldn't Panic After Seattle Seahawks Week 2 Loss (SWR Commentary)

The San Francisco 49ers made it to the Super Bowl last year and lost to the Baltimore Ravens after a great stretch of play from Colin Kaepernick and despite losing once again to the Seahawks in Seattle, there isn't reason for the team to panic this season.

The team is 1-1 after defeating the Green Bay Packers in Week 1 and despite the Seahawks looking dominant against the 49ers, playing at CenturyLink Field is no easy thing and it is a long season and the 49ers will have another chance to play and beat the Seahawks. The team gave up 290 yards total in the game and Marshawn Lynch was too much to handle, gaining nearly 100 yards rushing and over 130 total in the game with three touchdowns.

The 49ers defense had to deal with one of the best backs in the league and the Seattle defense was excellent on Sunday night as well. But that is no reason to panic, as the 49ers also suffered a bad defeat at home against the Giants last season and they were easily able to recover from that. A troubling sign was Anquan Boldin being held to one catch after going for over 10 and 200 yards last week, but that was more about going up against Richard Sherman, one of the best cover corners in the league.

Jim Harbaugh and the 49ers will figure things out and despite being behind this season in the NFC West early, there is still plenty of football to be played. The team has a decent schedule heading into their bye in week 9, as they have the Colts, Rams, Texans, Cardinals as well as the Titans and Jaguars on the road. Those last games are winnable and the team could be totally back in action and on the right trajectory heading into their bye.

It was a rough game Sunday night, but no reason to panic.
