The match will be the first time that these two sides have met in competitive action, and it is also Swansea's first official game against any Spanish opponent.

This matchup would have saw the return of Pablo Hernandez meeting up with is former team Valencia, however, the 28-year-old winger has suffered a hamstring injury in the days leading up to the match and will be absent for the team's trip to Spain.

Hernandez joined Swansea from Valencia in August of 2012 for a then club record £5.55 million.

Meanwhile, Valencia manager Miroslav Djukic has no serious injury worries to deal with going into this game, although they've endured a difficult start, losing three of their first four matches to leave them with the 16th ranking.

Valencia is coming off a loss Sunday going down 3-1 on the road to Real Betis. Prior to Thursday's match midfielder Andres Guardado has called for his teammates to pull together and secure satisfying results.

"We need to get our act together and come out with attitude," he said.

"The most important thing right now is to win the next match against Swansea."
