With the postseason rapidly approaching the New York Yankees have gone into desperation mode and will look to secure a home win as the San Francisco Giants pay a visit Friday night at 7:05 p.m. ET.

The Yankees are currently 3 ½ games back of the Tampa Bay Rays and Texas Rangers for one of the AL's two wild-card spots, and they'll also need to overtake the Cleveland Indians, Baltimore Orioles and Kansas City Royals in order to make the playoffs.

New York has nine games remaining on their season, starting with three of those games being at home against the Giants and Rays before heading out to Houston to finish their season against the Astros.

"We've got to run the table, there's no way around it," infielder Mark Reynolds said. "We've got some tough games coming up. The Giants have good pitching, Tampa's got good pitching. We've got to have a good homestand and hopefully go into Houston with a chance.

"There's only so many 'Get 'em tomorrows' left."

C.C. Sabathia will man the mound for Friday's game and has found success at home, winning three straight starts despite a 4.74 ERA. However he's lost his last two outings-both being on the road-all while giving up nine runs in 13 1/3 innings.

"It's very frustrating, because everybody keeps telling me I'm close, but I don't see it," Sabathia told the team's official website. "I want results and I know the team wants results. I know the fans want results. It's just tough not being able to deliver."
