MLB Playoffs: Matchups if the Season Ended Today, Who Takes Home Field Advantage?

As of right now, the MLB playoffs have most of their secure candidates. However, there are still some races not yet defined in the A.L. Wild Card, but we will go right ahead and nominate the top teams in their divisions or wild cards as the teams that officially to the playoffs. Does your team make the cut if the season ended today?

Home Sweet Home- Boston Red Sox Claim Home Field Advantage
The Red Sox have the best record in baseball at 95-63. They can thank the rest of the American League for getting them the victory as they A.L. won the 2013 All-Star Game at Citi Field this past summer. Fenway Park would host the A.L. Division Series and they advantace, they would host four of the seven games of the A.L. Championship Series and 2013 World Series.

The Red Sox would face the winner of the A.L. Wild Card Game, which currently sees the Cleveland Indians and Tampa Bay Rays going head to head. Both of these opponents present interesting matchups for the Red Sox. The Rays, obviously, are in the Red Sox's division. Meanwhile, the Indians playing at Fenway Park would mean the return of former Red Sox's manager, Terry Francano. Oooh, the drama!

Oakland Athletics vs. Detroit Tigers
The way the records stand, the Athletics and Tigers would meet again in the postseason and these guys have some history already. However, look out for those A's, they are only a game behind the Red Sox for the best record in the A.L. We've seen the Coliseum get crazy for baseball in October, the last thing anybody wants to do is roll into Oakland for playoff baseball.

In the N.L. the Atlanta Braves are dominating the standings. Their lead is not safe as their struggles in September are placing the Braves at risk of falling to second place in the home field standings. The Braves are 93-64 with a half game lead over the red hot St. Louis Cardinals. If the Braves hold on to their lead, this how things will break down in the N.L. Division series.

Braves vs. Pittsburgh Pirates OR Cincinnati Reds
Cardinals vs. Los Angeles Dodgers
