The New York Jets leave the confines of Metlife Stadium and hit the road to face the Tennessee Titans. Can't watch the game or consider yourself an old school fan who rather listen to the broadcast? Check out the radio stream with free coverage online of this AFC meeting with two of the league's surprises in 2013.
Both the Jets and the Titans are 2-1 in the season. With victories over the Pittsburgh Steelers and a surprising stop of the San Diego Chargers' offense, the Titans have picked up two early victories. Their passing is nothing to stop and watch, but their defense and running game have been a big deal in 2013.
The Titans are seventh in the league with 133.7 yards rushing, while their defense is holding offenses to less than 308 yards per game, good for eighth in the league, to go along with only 206 passing yards per game, ranking them 10th in the NFL.
For the Jets, 2013 has been a surprise. Geno Smith has shown compusure, despite looking like a rookie a couple of times throughout the season. Their passing game, like the Titans' is nothing great, but the rushing game is respectible, ranking sixth, right ahead of the Titans. Their defense however, has been better than the Titans', posting numbers that has them in the Top 10.
The Jets' defense is allowing 16.7 points, 270 total yards, 190.3 passing yards and less than 80 rushing yards per game, ranking them seventh, third, seventh and sixth in the league. It seems like the Jets are in for a great season as rushing and defense garnished great results for them back in 2009-2010.
One of these two teams will be 2-2, the other will be 3-1, which could place them in first place, along with the expected to teams in their division. The Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts are the top guns in the AFC South. Meanwhile, in the AFC East, the New England Patriots are the only true dominant team in the division, though the Jets will have to win in order to keep up with a perfect 3-0 Miami Dolphins team.
