The Champions League will pick up on Tuesday with a number of exciting matches going on and one to keep an eye on is Arsenal and Napoli, two clubs that are tied with three points each at the top of Group F as the first phase of play continues.
Each club has already won one match and now Arsenal will host Napoli at Emirates Stadium at 2:45 PM ET on Tuesday. The team is coming off of a 2-1 victory over Swansea City in Premier League play and they have not lost since dropping a Primer League match to Aston Villa back in the summer. Arsenal and Napoli have played recently, with the Gunners taking the Italian team down last season in the Champions League and now they will host the team as they look for another victory to keep their strong play going.
Napoli comes into the match after a 2-0 victory over Genoa on the road in Serie A play and now they will get another chance at Arsenal in the Champions League. Arsene Wenger has been vocal to his team all week and he also has high praise for the other side, saying Rafa Benitez deserved more respect for his time at Chelsea and that the match on Tuesday will not be an easy one because of how good of a manager he is.
Wenger said that Benitez took more blame than deserved and that the team will be on its toes after winning 2-1 against Swansea to put themselves at the front part of the Premier League standings early on in the season. Wenger repeatedly said that he wasn't expecting the team to play as well as they have this season and now they know they will be targets as they are in first place in the League and they have a number of quality teams coming from behind them.
Wenger said it's too early in the season to talk about any types of titles and championships and that he is working to prepare the club to play on Tuesday and nothing farther than that. The club has not lost since that surprise 3-1 defeat against Aston Villa and that is one reason why the club has been playing so well, as the loss was sort of like a wakeup call and ever since, the intensity level has been up.
Arsenal has played well against Italian teams and Wenger knows Napoli can score, as Sky Sports 1 reported that the team has scored in all nine Champions League games and now they will get another chance. The Fox Soccer app has the Arsenal and Napoli game starting at 2:35 PM.
