NFL Free Agent Rumors: Michael Turner, Tim Tebow and Matt Flynn On Week 6 Market As Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders, New York Giants or Jaguars Options?

The NFL season is into week 6 and with injuries and other issues piling up around the league, names like Michael Turner, Tim Tebow and Matt Flynn could get some attention, including from teams like the Raiders, Browns, Buccaneers and Giants, as those teams could use some help at running back and possibly quarterback.

Turner has not had much interest, but with the Giants, Browns and Raiders dealing with injuries at running back, he could be an option. Tebow has not had much interest, but could that change this week for the Jaguars who are playing his old team in the Broncos? Quarterback Matt Flynn has been having a tough season in 2013 after being traded from the Seattle Seahawks and after being demoted to third string at one point for the Oakland Raiders, the team decided to cut him rather than keep him on the payroll for the rest of year.

According to ESPN.com, Flynn was released by the Raiders this week after the team decided to move forward with Terrelle Pryor as the starter and the move is another odd occurrence in the recent career of the quarterback, who was acquired by the Raiders in the offseason. Flynn went from being Aaron Rodgers' backup quarterback before signing as a free agent with the Seattle Seahawks for three years and that is where the fun began, as he was beaten out by rookie Russell Wilson and served as the backup while the team made the playoffs.

After getting beat out by Wilson in embarrassing fashion, Flynn seemingly got the chance to start over after he was traded to Oakland, but obviously that didn't work out. Flynn did not look great during the summer and eventually he was beaten out by Terrelle Pryor and he had played so poorly during the season at points that the team decided to demote him to third string behind undrafted Matt McGloin. The front office does not look good right now at the position, as they also used a draft pick on Tyler Wilson before cutting and re-signing him to the practice squad and they previously gave up a fifth round pick for Flynn.

Being Aaron Rodgers's backup quarterback has its perks, as Matt Flynn found out over the years with his contract from the Seattle Seahawks and his paycheck from the Raiders, but now he is out of a job for the time being. Flynn's best and really only performance came in a game against the Detroit Lions back in 2011 when he passed for nearly 500 yards and had six touchdowns. Flynn did himself no favors with his performance on the field for the Raiders, as he had two fumbles and an interception against the Washington Redskins a couple weeks ago in a loss for Oakland at home.

Heach coach Dennis Allen said to reporters that he felt the move didn't "work" and now the team will go forward with Terrelle Pryor at quarterback. The team is 2-3 this season in the AFC West and Pryor looked pretty good on Sunday night in the victory over the Chargers. According to ESPN.com, Flynn has made nearly $15 million during his time with the Seahawks and the Raiders, so he obviously isn't lacking for money, but clearly things did not work out as a starter for him in Oakland.

ESPN also reports that Flynn will cost the Raiders about $2.7 million in salary cap money next season and the move means Matt McGloin will remain on the roster. The Raiders reportedly have had interest in Pat White and they also could add Tyler Wilson back onto the active roster from the practice squad.
