NLCS Game 4 Tuesday Night: Series 2-1 After Dodgers Win As Cardinals To Replace David Freese On Roster?

The St. Louis Cardinals are still up 2-1 in their series in the National League Championship over the Los Angeles dodgers despite losing Game 3, but the team could be without one of their most important players, as David Freese was injured and could miss Game on Tuesday night.

According to ESPN.com, Freese left the game on Monday night after dealing with an injured calf and now it is up in the air whether or not he will play in Game 4 on Tuesday. If Freese is seriously hurt, the Cardinals have a tough decision to make, because if they replace him on the roster, he cannot come back to play in the World Series if they do make it. Chances are the team will take a wait and see approach, as they may rather play with 24-men on the roster rather than possibly lose Freese for the rest of the playoffs.

Freese left the game in the fifth inning and then pinch runner Daniel Descalso helped contribute to the shutout, as he was on second base and ended up getting doubled up for a double play. The team ended up losing the game and afterwards Freese said that he felt the injury wasn't anything too bad and that he would check it out before the game on Tuesday, which will also be in Los Angeles at Dodger Stadium.

Freese got the first hit of the game for the Cardinals and after pulling up, he had the medical staff come out and then he was taken out of the game for Descalso. The Cardinals moved Descalso to second on a single, but after John Jay hit a fly ball to left field, Carl Crawford was able to catch it and get it back in and clearly Descalso did not see where exactly the ball was hit, as he was way too far off the bag for that ball.

The Cardinals losing Freese would be a very big hit, as he was the World Series hero two seasons ago while winning the NLCS MVP. The Cardinals are throwing Lance Lynn against Ricky Nolasco in the crucial Game 4 matchup.
