Oregon Ducks To Wear Pink Helmets and Uniform Gear To Support Cancer Research Saturday Against Washington State (Photo)

The Oregon Ducks are one of the most high profile teams in college football and they are well known for their flashy jerseys and hundreds of combinations by way of Nike founder Phil Knight and this weekend the team will add a new uniform to the mix, as they will be wearing pink gear and pink helmets when they play against Washington State.

According to ESPN.com, Darren Rovell is reporting that the Ducks will be wearing special-themed gear on Saturday in their Pac-12 matchup, which will be for supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month and also to raise money for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Rovell's report says that Nike will auction the helmets to support the cause and it brings attention to the subject of research and support programs.

Oregon is ranked number two in the country behind Alabama and the game against Washington State this weekend will be on Fox Sports 1 at 10:00 pm. The game will be at Autzen Stadium and Oregon is looked at as the heavy favorite and they will be getting some added attention due to the pink helmets and the cancer support on Saturday.

Oregon comes into the game after winning six straight games, including their first three in the Pac-12 and they are ranked second in the nation in rushing yards per game and second in points scored per game with over 55 averaged. The team is sixth in points against and gains over 600 yards per game on average. The next stretch is tough with the Cougars followed by the highly ranked Bruins and then on the road against Stanford, which could be a game that decides the conference.
