Tim Tebow Rumors: Houston Texans Want Case Keenum Spark Like Denver Broncos Had In 2011 Playoff Run From Quarterback As Gary Kubiak On Hot Seat?

The Houston Texans made a big move at quarterback when they promoted Case Keenum to the starting job after Matt Schaub was injured and they are hoping for a spark on offense, with some comparing the situation to a few years ago when the Denver Broncos did the same with Kyle Orton, bringing out someone named Tim Tebow as their starting quarterback.

ESPN.com compares the two situations, putting it in a couple different ways, including the similarities between the two players, as they each put up great numbers in college, but no one is quite sure how it would translate to the NFL. On top of that, they compare the 2-4 Texans to the Broncos in 2011, as they started off the season 1-3 and looked terrible, but after bringing in Tebow, the team won seven of eight games and ended up with a division title and a playoff appearance and of course, a very memorable playoff victory against the Steelers.

Tebow and Case Keenum are obviously not the same player, but the Texans are looking for that same spark from Keenum that the Broncos got from Tebow and after losing four straight games, they are just hoping for their QB not to throw a pick six after getting way too many of those this season. TJ Yates was passed over as the backup and while Keenum is looked at as a better passer and player than Tebow was, the Texans are hoping the offense can get a kick start and players like Andre Johnson and Arian Foster would love to make that happen.

Tebow wasn't efficient like usual quarterbacks during that run, but he showed a knack for comebacks and after taking the Broncos to the playoffs, he defeated the Steelers before losing to the Patriots in a blowout. If the Texans somehow make the playoffs this season, starting Keenum could turn out to a be a great decision for coach Gary Kubiak, but if it doesn't work out, he could end up losing his job.

The Texans decided to start Keenum after Yates threw yet another pick six after taking over for Schaub against the St. Louis Rams and now he will get his first NFL start after setting records while playing in college for the University of Houston, putting up some amazing numbers. The team is hoping he can get things going for the Texans and they come into the game with the 14th ranked offense passing in the league and sixth in rushing, but they are giving up way too many yards on defense.

The team is playing the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday and then they head into the bye week before hosting the Colts.
