Boston Red Sox Playoff Schedule: World Series Start Times as BOS Plays Host

The Boston Red Sox are alive and well in the 2013 MLB Playoffs. They are fighting for their franchise's seventh World Series and they face off against the St. Louis Cardinals, again, in a 2004 World Series rematch. Here is the schedule for their next game as the Red Sox host the series and hold home field advantage.

Game 1: Wednesday, Oct. 23, @7:30 p.m. ET

For the most part, a lot of the games will begin at 7:30 p.m. ET. The worst part about the World Series is having to wait three days before it begins. It would have been great to see Game 7's in both series, but both the Cardinals and Red Sox could not wait another day to clinch the pennant.

With their Game 6 victory, thanks to Shane Victorino, the Red Sox were able to avoid the unhittable Justin Verlander. They beat Verlander in game 3 of the series in a 1-0 win in Detroit, but the Tigers' offense had waken up and they were providing run support. Victorino's Game 6 grand slam, however was deflating and the Tigers' offense could not muster any magic late in the game.

The Red Sox starters pitched well in the series, but the bullpen saved the day. They pitched 21 innings, allowing 16 hits, but only one earned run in the League Championship Series. They also recorded two of the Red Sox's wins and Koji Uehara was a perfect 3-3 in save opportunities, though making five appearances in the ALCS.

As far as hitting, the Red Sox were at the bottom for the charts. They hit a meager .202, but they finished with four well timed home runs, driving in 18 RBI, though they struck out 73 times in the ALCS. The Cardinals will depend on their pitching in World Series, which might prove troublesome for the Red Sox, especially since Adam Wainwright will be well rested, along with rookie sensation Michael Wacha.

The Red Sox are looking to capture their first World Series title since 2007 when they swept the Colorado Rockies. The Red Sox are 8-0 in their last two World Series appearances. Funny how a franchise does not win a championship for 86 years, but once they finally made the Fall Classic, the Red Sox were unstoppable.

Hang tough. Two more days until the Red Sox and Cardinals face off in Game 1 of the 2013 World Series.
