Josh Gordon is getting tired of the rumors. The Cleveland Browns wide receiver has been hearing trade talk associated with his name ever since the team sent Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts. After that, every player in Cleveland was on notice. To make things worse, the Browns are not winning making a change all that more necessary. Gordon is counting down until the end of the trade deadline.
"I'm tired of it," Gordon said, via ESPN.com. "I honestly wish if it was going to happen it would have happened already. Instead of dragging on. If a trade offer came in and that's what they wanted to do, so be it. If not then just let it be known that this is where I'm gonna be. Honestly, it's part of the game and I'm dealing with it."
In an effort not to sound like he was ranting, Gordon stressed that he certainly loved playing with the Browns, but he understands how this business works. The team will likely rebuild once again in the offseason as quarterback play continues to be a big issue. With that, Cleveland will seek to get as many draft picks as possible. They received a first-round pick for Richardson and could get something pretty high in return for Gordon.
"It'd be pretty naive of me to not think it's possible," Gordon said. "This is the business of the NFL. It could happen any minute, any day. If it does, it does. If it doesn't I'm glad to be here."
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that at least three teams are interested in making a run at Gordon. Rob Chudzinski has denied the team is actively shopping the wide receiver, but if the right deal came along the Browns could not say no. According to the NFL insider, presented deals include a player and high draft pick in return for Gordon who leads the team in receiving.
Gordon stresses that he simply is just trying to focus on football. After having a down game in Week 7, Chudzinski is trying to eliminate the distractions surrounding his top target.
"I don't think it was an effort thing," Chudzinski said, via the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "Josh wants to be an elite receiver in this league and those are the types of plays that you have to find a way to make. He went up for it and he tried to body catch it mores than high-pointing it, so there's some technique things that we can work with him on. I've seen him make some great catches before and he's going to make more from here on out."
