Cardinals vs. Red Sox Score: World Series Game 1 Live Blog, Play-by-Play and Updates

It's the Boston Red Sox. It's the St. Louis Cardinals. Follow the score online as baseball's best meet in the 2013 World Series. Scoring updates will have all the stats and live play-by-play bringing you the action to your computer. This is perfect if you can't watch or listen to the game online.

The Red Sox have not seen action since last Saturday, while the Cardinals have been resting since Friday. The rest gave Allen Craig enough time to get healthy and the Red Sox bullpen should come fully charged for another tough series.

The Cardinals' offense will look to wake up and produce consistently for their pitchers. The Red Sox will have to cutdown on their strikeouts if they want to get anywhere against this tough young Cardinals' pitching staff.

The Red Sox are 7-3 in the 2013 postseason. They needed four games to get past the Tampa Bay Rays, while needing six games to get passed the Detroit Tigers. It was a bit of a miraculous run for the Red Sox in the ALCS. They found ways to get Max Scherzer out of a game twice before striking with grand slams that brought back life into the Red Sox's crowd and playoff hopes.

The young Michael Wacha was the battery for the Cardinals in the NLCS. After the Cardinals found themselves down 1-2, Mike Matheny took a chance, giving the rookie the ball in Game 4 as St. Louis faced elimination. However, Wacha set down the Pittsburgh Pirates and repeated the performance in the NLCS, shutting down the Los Angeles Dodgers completely. Wacha won the NL MVP award and he will look to provide the same type of contribution to this St. Louis team.

This will be a World Series to remember. Both teams were the best in their league during the regular season and they will look to find out who is the best in 2013 as the Fall Classic will take over our screens later today.
