Brett Favre Rams Rumors: Tim Tebow and Packers QB Calls Shows Lack Of Quality At Quarterback, Would St. Louis Be Better With Tebow Over Brady Quinn?

The St. Louis Rams are dealing with a very tough situation after losing Sam Bradford to a torn ACL for the season and reports had the team discussing Tim Tebow and Brett Favre, which seems crazy, but with the lack of quality at quarterback, is it really that much of a surprise?

Favre is old, yes, but Jeff Fisher is an outside the box guy at times and clearly he say a lack of quality at the position and figured, hey, why not give Favre a call? This says a lot about the state of quarterbacks in the NFL and while everyone knows that there are only 32 starters, that doesn't mean there are 32 quality players at the position and that is where that came from. Tebow obviously was more of a "discussion" and while he wasn't brought in, would he be a better option than Kellen Clemens? The answer to that is likely yes, but not by much, although it would be fascinating to see Tebow play with someone like Tavon Austin in the offense.

The original ESPN report said that the team contacted Brett Favre's agent and while the quarterback said he was flattered, he politely declined the offer after playing in nearly 300 consecutive games when he hung up his cleats. The Rams are now in a very tough position, as it's too early to give up on the season, but they also now have no real quarterback and that obvaiouly makes losing a much easier thing to happen. Tebow isn't a real answer, but is Clemens or Brady Quinn? It isn't that these guys are terrible, but clearly these days there is a talent issue in the NFL when it comes to quarterbacks and there are likely about 20 solid starters in the league, while the rest are marginal.

The Rams play on Monday night football next so imagine if they HAD signed Favre or Tebow? That would get ESPN some ratings. The team has a tough stretch coming up with the Seahawks, Titans and Colts and after that they have a bye week. The final stretch of the season includes the Bears as well as road tests against the 49ers and cardinals before playing the Saints and then the team finishes with the Bucs and Seahawks. Hey Tebow time!
