Detroit Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley was arrested in Alabama on Sunday on charges of driving under the influence and attempting to elude police. This is Fairley's second arrest in his hometown in two months.
Alabama state troopers told the Associated Press, Fairley passed a trooper early Sunday morning at 100mph in his Cadillac Escalade in unincorporated Mobile County. After initially refusing to stop for the trooper's emergency lights and siren, Fairley pulled over and seemed impaired. He was arrested without incident.
WALA-TV reported Fairley was taken into custody at around 1 a.m. and was released at 9 a.m. after posting a $1,750 bond.
Shortly after, the Lions released a statement. "We are aware of the reports and we are in the process of gathering information.
Fairley, 24, the 13th pick in the 2011 draft, signed a 4-year contract with the Lions worth nearly $10 million guaranteed. Fairley was arrested in April by Mobile police for possession of Marijuana.
In April, after the Lions arrest count hit four, starting quarterback Matthew Stafford had said: "(Coach Jim Schwartz said) we've come so far, we don't want anything to hold us back. And I think everybody knows that," Stafford told the Detroit Free Press. "We're a mature team. Some of the guys that were having troubles off the field were younger guys, but they'll figure it out, and we'll be there to help them along."
