Richie Incognito Rumors: Miami Dolphins Coaches Asked OL To Toughen Up Jonathan Martin Prior, Team Lying About Knowing Bullying Situation?

The Miami Dolphins are in the spotlight and will remain there for quite some time after dealing with the Jonathan Martin and Richie Incognito situation and as time goes on, it's sure to only get worse and it already has, as reports have come out that the Dolphins coaching staff asked Incognito to "toughen up" Martin.

Pro Football Talk is reporting that the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that Dolphins coaches asked Incognito, who is suspended for conduct detrimental to the team, to help "toughen up" Martin, who is considered "soft" by some personnel in the league. The situation is different from what team officials said about knowing about the bullying, but perhaps it was that they didn't know the extent of it after asking Incognito to do that, but either way, it looks terrible. Incognito was caught up to by reporters and said that he is weathering the storm.

Someone likely will get fired out of this situation and the report says that the team hoped the move would get Martin "into the fold".  Whether or not this came from high up or another lower coach, having any type of upper management do this could be very bad for the Dolphins and down the line they could face lawsuits and so could Incognito, as ESPN.com reports that Florida law says he could end up having to pay damages that amounts to three times Martin's salary.

The report says that it originally came up when Martin missed voluntary OTA workouts and Incognito was asked to make the call to get him "into the fold" and clearly he took way overboard with his racial comments and threats. Incognito now may have a slight defense, but not much.
