NASCAR is back on Sunday with the Chase for the Sprint Cup and the race will be at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale and Jimmie Johnson is gearing up for another great day after getting the pole position and working in first place in the standings and the race is starting up on ESPN with the green flag at 3:15 pm.
Last year Kevin Harvick won the race at Avondale and the Chase is basically between Jimmie Johnson and Matt Kenseth and Johnson took the pole at the race, putting him in great position to win once again and that could basically put the finishing touches on his sixth career series title, which will finish up next week. Johnson took the top spot with a track record and the way Johnson has been driving, it looks like there isn't anyone else that can challenge him on Sunday and Kenseth will be figuring out how to to get things right with just two races to go and with the track on Sunday being a short one at Phoenix, it's likely that Johnson will be in the winners circle again.

Johnson said he was pleased that his car performed well on the pole setting day in qualifying and now he has the top spot over Kyle Busch, who has been having a nice season on the Nationwide circuit. Johnson won the spot on Friday and now he will be in the top position and Kenseth will be back in number 14 and that means he will have some work to do once things get started on Sunday and he is behind by seven points in the standings behind Johnson and that is a solid lead heading into the final two races and it will be interesting to see how the other drivers work on Sunday and whether Johnson and Kenseth can get together at some point, especially at the end of the race.
Denny Hamlin finished second in qualifying ahead of Joey Logano and that could make for some fun up front and the two said they were amazed by the way Johnson has raced and they expect him to continue working that way as the race starts up after 3 pm on Sunday. Johnson was great again last weekend in the race in Texas and he dominated with leading over 200 laps and he could do that again on Sunday when he starts up front and that could be all he needs for his next championship. Johnson has been better than anyone else in the Chase and he is ahead of Kenseth and Kevin Harvick and with him 40 points back, it's a two man race now with Kenseth and Johnson. The race on Sunday will be huge for the Chase and Johnson can wrap things up on Sunday at Phoenix International Raceway and he will be the favorite when the green flag drops.
