'Sell Walcott if he asks for more money' says former Arsenal player

While all eyes have been on whether Robin Van Persie will sign a new contract and commit his future at Arsenal, another player in the same boat, but hardly mentioned, is Theo Walcott.

The England winger has just one year remaining on his contract and negotiations are expected to go ahead after Euro 2012.

Walcott has always maintained he would prefer to stay at the Emirates but his inconsistent form, ever since signing from Southampton as a teenager, has led many to call for his departure.

Former Arsenal player Stewart Robson, who has always been critical of Walcott's talents, told talkSPORT Arsenal should sell him, if he asks for a pay increase.

"It wouldn't worry me if Theo Walcott were to leave tomorrow.

"Theo Walcott for me is not a good footballer. He is an athlete who puts on a pair of football boots.

"He is quick, he is fast, but when he was younger should have been taught how to be better technically, how to find space, how to find awareness. He has never done that and he is a liability when he is defending.

"For Theo Walcott to want more money, I would let him go."

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing the England midfielder if Arsenal look to sell.

The European Champions are close to signing Brazilian Hulk, according to The Telegraph.

Porto were hoping to keep the forward unless someone met his huge $125 million buyout clause, but have resigned to the fact that Hulk wants to sign for Chelsea and a $60 million deal has been agreed. Hulk further fuelled the Chelsea rumors by tweeting: "Thanks to all Chelsea fans, the beautiful messages of support! And I'm sorry for my english hahahah."

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on Demba Ba according to The Telegraph. Ba, who had a highly successful season with Newcastle, has an $11 million release clause and Spurs are keen to sign the Senegal international.

Tottenham, however, will find it hard to convince the striker to move after missing out on Champions League qualification. Arsenal are also reportedly interested in signing Ba.

Rafael Van der Vaart could be another player headed for the White Hart Lane exit door after the midfielder was linked with a move to Schalke. Reports in Holland and Germany suggest Van der Vaart is considering a return to Germany. He previously had a successful time spell with Hamburg between 2005-08. Luka Modric and Gareth Bale are also considering their futures with Tottenham.
