David Beckham and LeBron James Discuss MLS Soccer Franchise In Miami, King Has Ownership Stake In Liverpool Premier League Club

David Beckham has been the face of a possible MLS franchise in South Florida and now another Miami-based athlete is getting into the mix, as LeBron James has had discussions with Beckham about bringing the team to Miami.

According to ESPN FC, James and Beckham have started up discussions about the team and Beckham, who may partner with Dolphins owner Stephen Ross on the franchise, reportedly has a deal in place from his previous contract that would allow him to get an MLS franchise and rumors have that coming to South Florida.

James has a big interest in the sport and he has an ownership stake in Liverpool and he is friendly with Beckham after meeting him multiple times. James said he enjoys soccer and the area previously had professions teams, including in the MLS from 1998 to 2001.

"There's some interest in both sides," James said Monday of his talks with Beckham, who has attended several Miami Heat games in recent seasons. "David has become a good friend of mine over the last few years, and I think it would be great for this city to have a football club for sure."
