The Aaron Hernandez case has not been in the news lately for anything other than court motions and other procedural issues, but that doesn't mean the family of the victim Odin Lloyd has remained quiet, as friends and family gathered at Lloyd's Roslindale grave site to honor him over the weekend.
According to NESN.com, friends and family was in attendance, including Ursula Ward, the mother of Lloyd, and they gathered soon after what would have been his birthday, including former teammates from his Boston Bandits team. The group dedicated and unveiled his gravestone at the cemetery and Ward spoke about her son and how much she loved him and hopes to honor him.
Hernandez stands accused of the murder of Lloyd in the first degree and a trial has not yet been set, but many expect it to come next year in 2014, possibly in the summer or fall. Lloyd's sister Olivia Thibou was also there and the ceremony was finished by the people there putting up balloons with birthday wishes for Lloyd and many spoke and were emotional about him during the day there.
"I decided to do it today so we could pay tribute to him to the life that he spent with us, and it was a wonderful time," said Ward.
