Yankees Trade Rumors: David Price Deal An Option For New York? Team Chases Carlos Beltran As NY Trading Chris Stewart To Pirates

The New York Yankees are looking to have a big offseason and after already signing Brian McCann, the team is chasing Robinson Cano and Carlos Beltran and that is one reason why they are trading away catcher Chris Stewart to the Pirates.

According to Hardball Talk, the team is looking to make a big run at Carlos Beltran and after signing McCann, the team felt they could move Chris Stewart to the Pirates. Other reports have the Yankees as a possible trade partner with the Tampa Bay Rays for Davis Price, but that it would depend on whether the team signs back Robinson Cano or not. Reports have Cano lowering his asking Price and that could take a while to get done and the Yankees have been looking to bolster their pitching rotation and with names like Matt Garza and Ervin Santana on the market, Price could be the better option for the team.

Stewart was solid defensively for the Yankees last season, but with McCann in the fold there really is no need for him and Buster Olney reports that the team is getting back cash and a player to be named later. McCann should be very good in Yankee Stadium as long as he remains healthy and a year after missing the playoffs, the Yankees are expecting to be players this offseason.

Beltran has been a target from the beginning and the Price deal could move forward if Cano comes in at less than $250 million. The Yankees want to bring Cano back, but they won't pay $300 million and it won't be for 10 years. The team already has locked up Jeter and their manager and now it's time to add more heading forward.
