Miami Heat Rumors: LeBron James Confident Dwyane Wade Signs Kobe Bryant Contract Extension in 2014 Free Agency, PG Likely to Return After Expired Deal

The Miami Heat stars may be telling reporters they do not intend to discuss free agency until after the season, but every now and then they drop a little quote that hints on their possible mindsets. LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh are all up for new contracts in the upcoming summer and could all possible disband to other teams willing to pay more than what the Big 3 is earning now. While none knows for sure the future of the respective players, James has his opinions on what Wade is worth.

Every offseason the debate comes up over what aging veterans should earn. How much does a team pay a player that was once the best at his position, could be a key role players and has championship rings on his fingers? Wade has played his entire professional career with the Miami Heat and has even taken a pay cut in order to win another championship. While many assume he is likely to finish out his career in South Beach, how much money will he demand?

Wade has three championship rings and two ailing knees. The point guard has not looked exactly the same over recent years because of reoccurring issues in the joints, but he still manages to have his moments of extreme productivity.

When ESPN.com asked what kind of money he would like, James interjected with his belief, "D-Wade is getting that Kobe deal." Wade laughed off the comment saying, "When I get into that position, it's something I'll think about. You have to sit down at the time and see what is best for you and for your team."

There is a very good chance the latest contract for Kobe Bryant will factor in to how much Wade can earn from the Heat or any team for that matter. At 35, Bryant signed a two-year extension worth $48.5 million. That was considered to be extremely high, but also sets a standard for franchise players like Wade.

Wade can opt out of his contract at the end of the year, or he can make $20 million next season and $21 million the year after. He will be 32 come January so decisions will have to be made. He could take the money and stick with the current deal. He could re-up for a four-year deal worth upwards of $100 million. The Heat could ask Wade to take another pay cut so they can sign other players. All decisions will be made by June 30.
