Adrian Peterson Trade Rumors: Dallas Cowboys Deal Possible After Vikings RB Considers Move? Minnesota Veteran Committed Despite Home State Appeal

The likelihood of Adrian Peterson getting traded still feels very far off, but the Minnesota Vikings running back is not immune to the rumors swirling around him. The reigning MVP is continue his most valuable player stance as he carries the Vikings through the season as their quarterback. Currently signed through the 2017, Peterson has considered what it would be like to play for someone else.

"You know, I'd be a liar if I said it's something that hasn't crossed my mind before," Peterson said, via EPSN's "SVP & Russillo." "But I've also said to myself it would be so amazing to be one of those players who stays with one team his entire career, it would be good if I could do that. But being from Texas, I've always wondered, wow, it would be cool to play in Dallas, to play back home. Or to play in Houston."

Peterson has every intention of finishing out his career in Minnesota and right now he has a contract that would allow him to do so, but if he were to leave, playing in his home state would be a welcomed change. A native of Palestine, Texas, Peterson grew up a Dallas Cowboys fan. He lives in Houston during the offseason while also spending time there to rehab his knee injury from 2012.

"I'd be lying to say it didn't mean something, anytime you play at home and play against the Cowboys, the team I grew up watching and liking," Peterson said.

How quickly is Jerry Jones picking up the phone right now? Everyone in the Vikings organization has denied the idea that Peterson would be traded. His name was in constant circulation prior to the NFL deadline, but nothing came of any of the rumors.

Peterson could decide that he wants out of Minnesota. The Vikings have not had a pass game since Brett Favre played there. They are likely drafting another quarterback come the 2014 draft in hopes of stabilizing an inconsistent offense. The Vikings could certainly get something nice in return for him.

There would be a small issue if the Cowboys were to try and get Peterson. Currently, Tony Romo has a $100 million contract that is a blow to the salary cap. Add in Peterson's contract and the Cowboys are already $30 million over. This deal will not happen this year, but in 2015? Do not put anything past Jones.
