The fantasy football season is in the playoffs and with owners nearing the end of the year, pickups and sleepers are coming at a premium and teams need points wherever they can get them, making names like Matt Asiata, Kirk Cousins, Jordan Todman, Edwin Baker and Andre Ellington some of the best waiver free agents in Week 16.
Asiata had a great game coming in for Adrian Peterson and Toby Gerhart on Sunday and if the two or even one of them remains out this week, Asiata could get some solid touches once again. Asiata made the most of his play on Sunday in the big win against the Eagles, as he had 30 carries for over 50 yards and he could be in line for more on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Cousins and Todman are good options as well, as Robert Griffin will be out again for the Redskins and Todman has been very solid in place of Maurice Jones-Drew while coming in the past couple weeks. Ellington has been good for the Cards as a rookie, while Baker broke out for the Browns on Sunday and reportedly will get more touches.
Asiata had 33 touches on Sunday, making three catches for 15 yards to go along with 51 yards on the ground and scoring three touchdowns. While Asiata averaged under two yards per carry, that was all he needed to do to tide things over for Peterson and even if he returns, Asiata has shown that he can handle a full work load.
Jordan Todman has been solid over the past few weeks, working as a double threat out of the backfield and with Jones-Drew out with a hamstring injury, he could be the difference for fantasy owners in their playoffs matchups. Todman had 29 touches on Sunday against the Bills, rushing 25 times for over 100 yards and he also added four catches for 44 yards on eight targets. Denard Robinson could get some carries as well, but it looks like Todman will be the starter for the rest of the season and he has two touchdowns on the year and he should be a solid start option next week against the Titans.
Cuosons had two picks against the Falcons on Sunday, but he played very well for Robert Griffin III and anyone dealing with an injury to Aaron Rodgers or owners that have RG3, Cousins is a smart play. He went for 29-of-45 passes for 381 yards and three scores and he is playing against the weak Cowboys secondary next and knowing the Cowboys, they will blow this game as well and they are ranked last in passing yards allowed per game.
Baker could be the surprise of the week, as coach Rob Chudzinski said that he could get more touches this week against the Jets and while they have a solid rush defense, he was solid with 38 yards on eight carries, averaging almost five yards a touch. He also had four catches for 46 yards and scored a rushing touchdown and he ended up with more total touches than Chris Ogbonnaya and the other backs and now he could be in line to get a start depending on the status of Willis McGahee.
