Ohio State might be ranked No. 3 because they have yet to play a very tough non-conference schedule, but being in the stacked Big Ten means there is always competition waiting for them. The Notre Dame Irish is ready to be the Buckeye's last big non-conference test and upset the high-ranked Buckeyes.
Ohio State is becoming known as a defensive unit. Currently undefeated, Ohio State has yet to allow an opponent score 70 points in a game while holding players to 24.7 percent shooting from the 3-point range. Opponents have been held to 55.5 points per game as they struggle against a tough perimeter defense.
Notre Dame is not a team to overlook. Currently 8-3, the irish are coming off a win against Indiana as Jerian Grant put up 23 pints and Garrick Sherman scored 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting. Both players had career games. While Notre Dame has put up solid numbers against tougher opponents, losses to Indiana State and Iowa certainly hurt their efforts. Upsetting Ohio State would certainly give the team momentum as they head into their first ACC schedule.
Notre Dame players described Ohio State as "machine like." They know how to take care of business even when things appear to be getting out of hand. The team faced off against Delaware and after putting up a 15-point lead, they allowed Deleware to trim the lead to single digits as the game reached the two-minute mark. The Buckeyes were able to pull out the win against five players reached double-figures in points.
The last time these two met, Ohio State beat the Irish back in 2008. Notre Dame could have the edge after they have only produced 8.8 turnovers in their past six games. Ohio State is simply hoping to keep their perfect record in tact.
