It was a wild Game 6 in Oklahoma City. The San Antonio Spurs blew a 15-point lead and the Thunder ran away with the Western Conference Finals. Kevin Durant was named Most Valuable Player after finishing the night with 34 points in an overall outstanding performance.
Durant played unbelievable basketball in the third quarter of last night's game. He scored 14 points in the quarter alone as he tried guiding his team back from a huge deficit.
The Spurs started out dominating, shooting a hair under 61 percent and 4-6 from three. They outscored the Thunder in the first quarter by 14 points.
Tony Parker was running around players, getting to the paint and scoring at will. He had 17 points in the first quarter alone and 21 by end of the half.
Stephen Jackson had a sick game from three. He came off the bench in the first quarter and lit up the scoreboard.
This Stephen Jackson was not knocking people over, those days are behind him. He came in knocking down threes, going 4-4 from beyond the arc and in 14 first half minutes and scored 12 points.
Lucky for Thunder, the elderly start the day early and go to bed early.
The Spurs led by as many as 18 in the first and second quarters. Right before the half, Durant popped a three that cut the lead down to 15.
You would think, by the buzz in the crowd, that the Thunder were up by 30 points. The Oklahoma City crowd kept cheering the whole first half, even after their team was down by double digits.
However, the Spurs were unfazed by the crowd's noise and did not tap out easily. It was not until two minutes left in the third quarter that the Thunder finally regained the lead. The Spurs had a one-point lead heading into the final quarter, but their tanks were empty.
Kendrick Perkins sealed the deal with a monster dunk as the clock showed 24 seconds left in the quarter.
The Spurs looked capable of walking out of Chesapeake Energy Arena with a win, but they could not score in the second half. They were outscored by 14 points in the third quarter and allowed OKC to get back into the game.
The Thunder proved to be too strong and explosive for San Antonio.
Now the youngsters get to rest as they wait for either the Miami Heat or Boston Celtics and look to capture their first NBA world championship.
