The Adrian Peterson trade rumors cropped up earlier this season at the NFL trade deadline for a number of reasons, as the Minnesota Vikings were very far out of playoff contention and a columnist brought it up and after random interest from the Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins, Peterson is still with the Vikings and now that Mike Zimmer is head coach for Leslie Frazier being fired, there is a chance Peterson may want out of the situation if it doesn't turn around quickly.
Peterson rushed for 2,000 yards last season and this past season he had another productive year despite being a little banged up and now he could be going under the knife heading into an uncertain offseason. According to ESPN.com, Peterson may end up having groin surgery this offseason and that will come after an evaluation next week to see if he needs surgery.
Peterson comes into the offseason after dealing with groin and foot injuries during the season and while he had 1,266 yards this year, it wasn't even close to the 2,000 from the season before. He had 12 touchdowns that season and 10 touchdowns this season and he was coming off of an MVP award before this season. Frazier was fired after a rough offensive season in Minnesota and now that they are moving into a new stadium and a whole new situation.
Norv Turner was hired as offensive coordinator for Zimmer and that could come up as well and while the Cowboys and the Dolphins are long shots, if Peterson wants out, he could force his way into a trade. Turner was offensive coordinator with the Browns this season when they traded Trent Richardson to the Colts and that could have an impact on things down the road.
