NFL: Chad Ochocino Released by Patriots

After a year serving in New England's reserve ranks, Chad Ochocinco was released Thursday.  According to Chad's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, he will be pursuing employment elsewhere.

But the man formerly known as Chad Johnson may have a hard time making another club's roster.  Despite being the veteran of six Pro Bowls, the 34 year-old receiver is no longer the coveted star that he once was.

Plaxico Burress, also 34 made a return to the NFL in 2011 after missing two seasons while serving a prison sentence.  Once a Super Bowl hero with a lucrative, long term contract, Burress is now without a team after playing out his one year deal with the Jets.

Burress reached out to the Miami Dolphins, who currently sit at the bottom of the NFL totem poll, and was denied an opportunity to compete for a roster spot despite the fact that they have a young QB in need of weapons at receiver.

Ochocinco did not cause much of a stir in New England. During his only year with the team, he hauled in only 15 receptions and did not accumulate 300 yards.
