Tiger Woods was even for day one and now the Farmers Insurance Open hits Round 2 on Friday on the PGA Tour schedule and Woods comes in with a 72 to put him eight back of the leader at Torrey Pines and now he has the chance to get back into things and coverage is streaming online from the Golf Channel on the Live Extra and Woods tees off after noon.
Woods had a slow start on Thursday but was able to pull out an even score and it came after just two birdies and he missed on half of the fairways and now he has the chance to pull things sharper on Friday. Woods is killer at Torrey Pines and he has won eight times at the course and last year he won the Farmers Insurance Open as one of his five victories and that put him back in his number one ranking again in the world.
Heading into play on Friday, Stewart Cink is leading things by a couple strokes and Marc Leishman and Jason Day are within striking distance and Woods now has his work cut out for him. Woods bogeyed two holes on the day and had two birdies, but neither was on the par-5 holes and that is where he is usually killer and on Friday he will have to do better on those. Woods was able to pull par for that round and he will need to be under a bit on Friday to be in the mix over the weekend and Phil Mickelson is battling as well while he deals with some injuries.
Woods started the day in 63rd on the leaderboard and now he has the chance to rebound, as he missed out on any birdies on the south course on Thursday. Woods last played a true round in December and now he is getting back into the swing of things and while he started off the season much better last year, he has the chance to get things right on Friday. The North course should give him a boost and that is where he will play on Friday and that could be the difference as he tries to get back into the mix.
