NBC Olympics 2014 Schedule: Sochi Winter Games Start Date February 6 For Russia Opening Ceremony

The NBC Olympics 2014 schedule is starting up in Sochi for the winter games in Russia on February 6 and the Opening Ceremony will be live on February 7 and that will officially kick off the games after a number of small events and prelims get started up and for two weeks the eyes of the world will be on Vladimir Putin and Russia and while security concerns, corruption, human rights, treatment of gays and massive environmental issues plague Sochi, the IOC will try and focus on just the sports.

The NBC coverage of the games starts up in just about two weeks and right now things are 13 days away and some of the most anticipated events includes the figure skating, ice hockey, curling, bobsledding, skiing and snowboarding and these are shaping up to be the most expensive Olympics ever. Russia has already blown past the estimates that they said they would spend by about six fold and now they are into the billions upon billions and this is the most corrupt, horribly thought out and misguided Olympics ever, as Sochi is a resort town and there is a chance that snow could be in short supply.

The first events start out with some preliminaries, training and qualifications on Thursday on February 6 and that has the women's combined Alpine skiing and the slopestyle snowboarding qualifications for the men. The Alpine skiing for the men has downhill training, while the women's snowboarding will have their slopestyle qualifying before the women's moguls runs in Alpine skiing. The next day has the opening ceremonies and some of the big events on Saturday includes the first group of women's hockey as well as the men's gold medal snowboarding finals and before that is the men's skiing and women's skiing.

The US has issued some guidelines for athletes and security so far has been tight in Russia, as they smartly placed the Olympics not far from a region that breeds extremist terrorists, so you know, no issues there apart from the suicide bombs that have been going off in the country the past few weeks. According to ESPN.com, the State Department issued a warning and told American athletes not to dress overtly in American colors and to be very mindful of what's going on around them,
