LeBron James vs. Kevin Durant: Is Miami Heat or Oklahoma City Thunder Star MVP and Best NBA 2014 Season Player?

The All-Star votes have been counted and the starting lineups have been announced and as expected, LeBron James and Kevin Durant were the top vote getters among players and they led their respective conferences in votes, spurring many to wonder, which player is the best in the NBA, LeBron James vs. Kevin Durant?

Questions like that are a matter of opinion of course, but based on the fan vote, they got it right with these two players, as right now they look like the two favorites to win MVP this year. No one will dispute that James is the best player in the NBA overall, but looking at things this year in particular, Durant is having an amazing year and he has been doing it without Russell Westbrook in the lineup.

The same could be said for James, as Dwyane Wade has been hampered this season and he has had to step up as well. Miami and Oklahoma City are considered two of the best teams in the NBA and James and Durant are the two best players on those teams. James was the top vote getter in the league ahead of Durant with Stephen Curry and Paul George next and those two will be the main focus for the teams in the game.

Now to the stats:

Durant is averaging 31.1 points and five assists this season with nearly eight rebounds, while James is averaging 26 points, 6.5 assists and 6.9 rebounds per game, all best on his team. So who is better, James or Durant?
