The Superbowl starts up on TV on schedule at 6:25 pm ET and the channel coverage will be on FOX this season for the For Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks championship game on Sunday from MetLife Stadium and the SB XLVIII matchup features the two best teams in the league as they face off for supremacy from the AFC and NFC in New Jersey for the cold-weather, outdoor title game.
Peyton Manning comes in looking to cement his legacy as one of the greatest quarterbacks ever, while Russell Wilson made it into the game in just his second season and he has a high powered rushing game and a top ranked defense behind him. Many see the Broncos as the favorite because of their high powered offense, while supporters of the Seahawks have pointed out that the cold weather should favor the defense on Sunday and either way, it should be a great game with both teams coming in as number one seeds from their conferences and ranked number one in their respective units.
The Broncos come into the game as the top ranked offense and scoring team in the league this season, while the Seahawks have that same distinction on the defensive side of the ball. The Seahawks have the best secondary in the NFL with Richard Sherman leading the way and they have the top ranked redzone defense and now they will face off against the best redzone offense in the Broncos and they have tons of weapons to pick from, including Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker, Eric Decker and Julius Thomas and that doesn't even mention Knowshon Moreno, who rushed for over 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns for the first time in his career.
All the receivers were in double digits and that was because Manning tossed for over 50 touchdowns and 5,000 yards this season to set single season record and now he is looking to add a Lombardi Trophy to the mix as well. The Super Bowl is in a cold weather city for the first time in the modern game and that could mean tough wind conditions, although the forecast looks like it will hold for the game and will have decent weather.
The Broncos come in after defeating the Patriots in the AFC championship game and that came after Manning and the team lost in New England earlier in the season in overtime. The Broncos rush defense is solid compared to its pass defense and against a back like Marshawn Lynch they will need to continue playing that well. Lynch has been tight lipped during Super Bowl week, but he is ready to go beast mode on game day and with the Seahawks getting Percy Harvin back, the offense could end up wide open for the matchup.
The Broncos and the Seahawks each are back in the Super Bowl after a number of years and it has been over a decade for Denver, while the Hawks were there against the Steelers a number of years ago and lost that game and now they are back. The game is from MetLife Stadium and the FOX channel with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman will be handling the coverage of the game for the Denver Broncos vs. the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday from East Rutherford New Jersey.
